Firepower is part of The Royal Artillery Museum of Woolwich and charters the history of the Gunners from the earliest cannons to the various artilleries employed today worldwide.
This engaging weapons museum shows every gun up close and details in which conflicts it was used in and with which ammunition. You can also watch videos demonstrating the pieces in use and see how each works. It’s a fascinating London attraction that looks at how military personnel use armoury today - even in peacekeeping missions.
Visit the history gallery to see the history of weapons played out from the first slings and arrows to the earliest known recorded form of gunpowder then discover the history of 20th Century weaponry in the Gunnery Hall. This is certainly a unique attraction for any London tourist.
Soccer fans can also learn the long history of the Gunners and how the famous North London football team came to be associated with the Woolwich arsenal - and find out why, when the team moved to their new football grounds, the Arsenal sent them two cast-iron guns to head the entrance to the ground.
