The Silk Museum is located within the former School of Art. As a School it was used to train people to work within the Silk Industry whether that be design, print, dying or embroidery.

This Museum explores the design education of silk workers, properties of dying, Macclesfield's other textile industries, social history and hosts a fascinating machinery gallery. View jacquard looms, handlooms, picture looms, knitting machines, sewing machines and many more!

There is a selection of Audio visual programmes to enhance your visit.

The 'Silk Museum' hosts a Temporary exhibition gallery which over 2013 will be hosting prestigious textile exhibitions including the 'Embroiderers Guild' and 'Sue Rangeley'.
