Experience the tremendous atmosphere of the award-winning Yorkshire Air Museum & Allied Air Forces Memorial whilst admiring fascinating displays, such as the superb new Bomber Command exhibition, restored Control Tower, Air Gunners Room, Archives & Uniform Displays, Airborne Forces Display, Squadron Memorial Rooms and much more. Our attractive Memorial Gardens have been awarded the Yorkshire in Bloom Silver Gilt certificate for the past three years. See Yorkshire's pioneering Cayley Glider along with the Wright Flyer, unique Halifax Bomber and Mosquito Nightfighter and modern jets such as the Harrier GR3 and Tornado GR4. Ride our fantastic 'Harrier Experience' Flight Simulator! Don't miss our exciting events that take place throughout the year. The excellent Restaurant provides hot and cold meals, snacks and refreshments in an atmospheric setting, reminiscent of a wartime 'NAAFI'. The Museum has now been accredited as a Quality Assured Visitor Attraction from Visit Britain, the national tourism organisation and has won the York Business Awards 'Tourism & Hospitality Attraction of the Year.'
The new 'Pioneers of Aviation' exhibition opened in March and this superb exhibition, which has already been well received by visitors, features the work of famous figures from the aviation world who are either born or worked in Yorkshire including Sir George Cayley, Robert Blackburn, Amy Johnson and Barnes Wallis.
