The north-west tower of the Madarsa was later developed into a lofty coloumn which Mahmud Khalji built to commemorate his victory over Raja Kumbha of Mewar. The coloumn perhaps rose 7 storeys high to which Jahangir refers in his memories. It is not known when the coloumn fell down, but only one stage of it exists now, rising 10 m above the ground.
