Champa Baoli is a popular summer retreat, is an elaborately constructed step-well, situated to the west of Hindola Mahal. The Champa Baoli has cool wells, shallow bathrooms, ventilation shafts, pipes and tanks which collect rain water in the subterranean chambers and is said to have the aroma of champak flower.
The Sultans retreated to the Champa Baoli which was an underground maze with well-ventilated rooms dating from the 15th - 16th century. Wind towers were also used to cool the buildings during summers. A tower on the roof caught the cool breeze, which was channeled to the room below.
