Porbandar is famous as the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. Another reason for visiting this city is the Nehru Planetarium, situated 2 km from the city center.
Regular shows are held at this planetarium. The afternoon shows are held in Gujarati language. The Nehru Planetarium is dedicated to the Non Co-operation Movement, initiated by Mahatma Gandhi. The photo panels at the entrance of the building contain images of the historic movement. Situated in front of this planetarium is the famous Bharat Mandir hall.
