Kshira Chora Gopinath Temple is a beautiful shrine, located at Remuna, about 9 km east of Baleswar, in Orissa. The temple enshrines a black stone idol of Lord Krishna flanked by Sri Govinda and Sri Madana Mohana.
The idols of Govinda and Madana Mohana were brought by a devotee from Vrindavan, in 1938. The Kshira Chora Gopinath temple is located in Remuna. It is said that Sri Rama carved 'Gopinath' with His arrow and that Sita worshiped this deity in Chitrakut. Lord Gopinatha, flanked by Sri Govinda and Sri Madana Mohana, is made of black stone. Sri Gopinatha stands in bas-relief.
'Rasikananda' renovated the present temple, after the prior temple built by king 'Gajapati' Maharaja 'Langula Deva' was destroyed by Muslim invaders. It is believed that Lord Ram carved 'Gopinath' with his arrow and that Sita used to worshipped this deity in Chitrakut.
