The Varaha Temple is dedicated to Vishnu in his third incarnation as Varaha, the boar. Inside the idol is a nine feet high statue in highly polished sandstone. The surface of it is covered with 674 deities in 12 neatly carved rows. There was also an image of the Earth Goddess, which is now missing and only here feet can be seen attached to the pedestal.
This temple depicts Varaha as a purely animal form. The temple is located in the Western Group of Temple Complex Khajuraho Group of Monuments, a World Heritage Site inscribed by UNESCO in 1986 in Khajuraho. Khajuraho is a small village in Chattarpur District of Madhya Pradesh, India.
