The Adinath Temple contains an idol with an inscription dated Sam 1215 during the rule of Chandella king Madanavarman.
The Adinath temple in Khajuraho, is a Jain temple dedicated to Adinath. As in all Jain temples, you have to go without anything leather (shoes, wallets, backpacks, belts, watch strap etc.) and be respectful of any "bug living". The doctrine does not allow anything living to be harmed. Many followers even wear masks in case some bug (mosquito, fly, etc.) could be swallowed, others have small brooms to sweep away ants or other insects that are in the ground at the time of sitting to meditate or pray. The temple is very well preserved. It shows the new building as the entrance. Inside we admire some polished marble statues in one piece, also the statue of the monkey god "Hanuman". The temple and the statue are of the oldest structures in Khajuraho, on the pedestal of the statue of Hanuman, there's inscription from 992 AD.
