The Ushakothi Sanctuary is one of the most popular tourist attractions of the state of Odisha(Orissa). Established in 1962 over a forest area of about 285 square kilometres, the Ushakothi Sanctuary is situated at a distance of about 22 kilometres from Sambalpur.To the west of the Sanctuary lies Hirakud dam. dense deciduous forest flanked by the Wardha and Penganga rivers covers 130 sq. km and is one of the smaller sanctuaries of Odisha(Orissa).
