Rajasthan being one of the most historic states houses many monuments and palaces as a symbol of the heritage of India. Alwar, in Rajasthan, houses one its finest specimens of Indo-Islamic architecture the Tomb of Fateh Jung, the mausoleum of a very important official in the court of Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan, Fateh Jung.
The Tomb of Fateh Jung is a mausoleum built in honour of Fateh Jung who was famous for his kindness and greatness. Fateh Jung was related to the Khanzada rulers in Alwar, and was known for his noble deeds. The tomb is a very good example of the blending of the Rajputana and the Moghul style of architecture. Shah Jahan had a very keen interest in the Mughal architecture and several structures and monuments were built in Rajasthan and Delhi during his reign indicating the influence of Mughal architecture. The Tomb of Fateh Jung not being an exception is a combination of domes, minarets and high quality sandstones.
The tomb is a large round shaped structure, and the distinguishing miniature design of the monument, showcases the great skills and talents of the craftsman and the architectural style of that time. The tomb is surrounded with lush green gardens adding to the beauty of the monument. The surrounding garden now houses a school in its vicinity.
The best time to visit the Tomb of Fateh Jung is between September and March. Summer days could get a little warm and uncomfortable for sightseeing although the nights are cooler even during summers.
