Pilani, India Overview
Pilani is a small town situated in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. It is in the district in Rajasthan, India. It is known for being the home of the world renowned university BITS-Pilani (Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani). an all-India Institute for higher education. Its engineering college is reputed to be among the top ten colleges in India. Late Mr G.D. Birla an eminent industrialist and an associate of Mahatma Gandhi founded the Institute. Other places of interest are The BITS Museum, Shiva Ganga, Saraswati temple and the Pachwati. Pilani is connected by road from Delhi and Jaipur. Its nearest railhead is Chirawa. Pilani also has good hotels.

Pilani, India History
The town of Pilani was established by the king Raja Chand. Ruins of some temples belonging to 10th century can be seen there. Large tank called as Chand Baori is situated there. It is surrounded by a wall with bastion acting as protection the tank. Pilani is known for a major educational hub as many higher institutes of education have come up there. It also houses other places of interest like BITS Museum, the Pachvati, temple of Saraswati and a Shiva Ganga temple. The village of Abahneri is a another place of interest to be seen around Pilani. It is an ancient village and is visited many tourists from across the world. The place is famous for its ancient and historic monuments. It is also known for its step well called as Baori. Temple of HarshaMata is also situated near the Pilani. The temple was built in 10th century and at present is under the control of Archeological department of Government of India. You can get to Pilani by many states run buses from Jaipur, Delhi, Chiwara and other places of state and the country. Chiwara serves as the nearest railway head to Pilani and is well linked to other cities and towns of the state and the country. You can also fly to Jaipur form many other major cities of India and then move to Pilani by state run buses
