In summer, walk carefree on the expanse of the Governor’s hill and see the sun dip into the Saputara lake as the sky begins to shimmer with stars.Saputara means the 'Abode of Serpents' and a snake image on the banks of the river Sarpagana is worshiped by the Adivasis on festivals like Holi.
In rains, breathe in the rolling hills of Saputara, echoing green hues, lush with flowers, and watch the meditating rain drops sitting still on sloping leaves. Some of the thickest forest cover in the state envelops you.
Saputara is popular for the several gardens present here like Lake Garden, Step Garden and Rose Garden. One of the most popular gardens in Saputara is the Step Garden. The unique features of the Step Garden are the design and layout of the steps. Plants and flowerpots with wooden work around it support the steps. There are facilities for visitors to stay here in the numerous Forest Huts.
One of the popular attractions here is the Saputara Lake that abode several boat clubs, offering facilities for boating. Other than sailing, the Sunset Point in the Lake offers a clear view of the Saputara region. Just 52 km from Saputara is the Gira waterfalls, which is a popular tourist destination.
Some of the popular places here include Nageshwar Mahadev Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The museum of Saputara is ideal for gathering knowledge on the Dang tribe. One of the popular events celebrated here is the Dangs Darbar, which is a tribal festival celebrated before Holi.
Once a private forest of the Maharaja of Vansda, the Vansda National Park covers an area of 24 square km. The national park consists of animals like tigers, leopards, python, four horned antelope, pangolin, rusty spotted cats and even giant squirrels.
The climatic conditions of Saputara are uniform all round the year and during the summers the average temperature is 28o Celsius. The best time to visit this destination is between the months of March and November.

This beautiful hill station is perched on a plateau in the Dang forest area of the Sahyadri Range. At an altitude of about 1000 m. it has cool climate, the highest temperature even in the summer do not exceed 28 °C. Saputara though not has much on its history, legends has it that Lord Rama spent 11 years of his exile in these very forests.
