Kanpur is an important industrial center of Uttar Pradesh. It is situated on the banks of Ganga. Kanpur is a tourist's paradise and is visited by tourists from allover the world for the historical and religious places located here.
The Kanpur Memorial Church, Jajmau, Shri Radhakrishna Temple (J.K.Temple), Jain Glass Temple, Allen Forset Zoo, Kamla Retreat, Nana Rao Park, Phool Bagh etc are some of the tourist places in Kanpur. Phool Bagh is an exquisite park, located in the heart of Kanpur on the Mall Road. It is also known as Ganesh Udyan. Phool Bagh is visited by both kids and adults to enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the park.
Phool Bagh is a very well maintained park with several kinds of rare plants and trees. Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial (K.E.M. Hall) is placed in the centre of the park. An Orthopedic Rehabilitation Hospital was run in this building after the first World War. At present the building of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial (K.E.M. Hall) is used for different public meetings. Phool Bagh is an ideal place for family outing in a serene place like this. Every year a number of flower shows are organized in this beautiful park. The Summer House and a big Public library is located in the Phool Bagh.
Phool Bagh, also called Ganesh Vidyarthi Udyan, is located in the central part of the city near the Kanpur Central Railway Station, LIC Building and Nana Rao Park. The park was known as the Queen Victoria Garden during the British Rule in India.
The garden has hosted several historical public assemblies addressed by some of the greatest leaders and speakers of modern India including Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Ram Manohar Lohia. Phool bagh is also a home to the popular Kanpur Sangrahalya and Cawnpur Union Club. The Sangrahalya is the official museum of the city and is an attraction in its own right. Till some years back, the park was well maintained and had many green spaces to its credit. However, it is now used for political rallies and the greenery has more or less disappeared. Its historical legacy continues to be a draw.
