Sariska is situated at 200 kms from the National Capital of India, Delhi. This temple is backed by the delightful sight of Pandupol or Pandu gate where a cascading spring emerges from hard and compact rocks. This beautiful scene and national spot has become more sacred and is haunted by the Hanuman temple, which is close by this water stream. It is said that Sant Nirbhaya Dassji Maharaj founded the Hanuman temple. He was a devotee of Lord Hanuman and hence in this thick forest, he founded this temple of hanuman ji, which has been now fully constructed and attracts thousands and thousands of people.
The ancient hanuman temple located at Sariska is well known as Pandu pole. It is hidden green foliage of the forest, which creates a mysterious ambience. There is a giant idol of Hanuman, which is present in a reclined position and goes back to the days of Mahabharata. There are hundreds of monkeys and langurs running near the hanuman temple premises, but most of these are harmless.
Pandupol is a very interesting place to visit in Sariska and a major attraction for the tourists. It is the most frequently visited spot inside the sariska national park. According to the legend, the pandavas spent some part of their exile period at the Pandupol in the Sariska. At one place in Pandupol temple area, two hills meet together. Therefore, this place is given a significant historical importance and a reason, why many tourists stop to visit in the route to the national park. History also claims that it is here at the pandupol that the bhima who acquired the strength of a thousand of elephants had been defeated in his ego battle by the Lord Hanuman.
