Neelkanth Temples in Alwar are among the several tourist attractions that lie within the world famous Sariska National Park. Though the ancient temples of Neelkanth today lie in a wrecked state, they remind of the glorious history of the bygone era and are worth a visit during your tour to Alwar city.
Neelkanth temple complex built between 6th and 9th centuries is situated inside Sariska National Park, about 32 km from the entrance. The entire complex comprises of more than 300 temples dedicated to Hindu and Jain gods, many of which stand ruined today. One of these ruins is still a functional temple devoted to the worship of the Lord Shiva. These ruins are a protected area and photography here is prohibited. Some of the trees surrounding these ruins are quite a spectacle worth noting in themselves. What remains of a couple of them are just the parasites that had lived on them, still maintaining the tree's original shape and structure.
