Hanuman Ka Tibba or Mount Hanuman Tibba is the highest peak in the Dhauladhar range, which stands at a staggering 5639 meters, approximately 19000 feet. It is located right in front of McLeodganj and is a spectacular and a breathtaking sight. It is a wonderful place for those who are up to the challenge of trekking. Every year, many people assemble here for some adventure. The Hanuman Ka Tibba peak is surrounded by beautiful glaciers. The peak is also not too far away from Manali. It is a snow covered peak, and looking at it from different direction gives the traveler a whole new perspective. It is not considered the highest peak as per the Himalayan standards; however it is one of the most astounding sights someone could get to see in a lifetime.
The sunset is one of the prominent sights that travelers thrive to see, however it is not very advisable to stay back post sunset. The trek back down would be as same in the dark, unless proper accessories are carried along. The trek is considered to be dangerous and not recommended for amateurs. For experienced trekkers, it is nothing less than an incredible experience. Assessing the weather conditions before mountaineering is another key aspect. Trying to climb the Mount Hanuman Tibba during rough weather conditions is not recommended at all since it would turn out to be extremely fatal. Experience does not stand a chance against nature’s wrath. In case the trek is planned for a particular day and there is heavy snow, it is best to wait for the weather to settle down. The locals at McLeodganj provide the same advice to the travelers about Hanuman Ka Tibba.
If the trek is started from Manali, the peak of Hanuman Ka Tibba could be witnessed at an altitude of around 3000 meters, at a point called Dhundi in Solang Nala. Over the years, there have been many expeditions conducted by different mountaineering teams to further investigate the path to Mount Hanuman Tibba. Many conclusions have been arrived and researches have been made for geological purposes. Many documentaries and articles were published based on the findings from these researches.
Though trekking might be a thing that every tourist to Dharamshala would be a part of, just the sight of the magnificent mountain is a treat in itself. It is not every day that the travelers get to see such a sight and every moment of it needs to be relished and embedded in memory. It is one of the thousands of mountains that send a shiver through the spine of the beholder. Pictures taken of the Hanuman Ka Tibba are wonderful souvenirs and could also be converted to post cards to be sent to friends and family. There are only certain places on earth that are out of the ordinary and that stays close to the heart of tourists, and Hanuman Ka Tibba promises to be one of them. It is a must-see for everyone who holidays at Dharamshala.
