Beside Palampur, the Tea Gardens of Dharamshala are very famous in Himachal Region. I have made several trips to McLeodganj, the residence of H.H. Dalai Lama. Consider this post to be first part of description of Dharamshala and McLeodganj. Though Dharamshala is primarily known for its Tibetan settlements and monasteries set amidst the snowy peaks of Dhauladar ranges, this mini Lhasa is also known for its extensive cover of tea gardens. Take a drive down the roads of Dharamshala, what hits you is the neatly manicured tea gardens and the magnificent aroma of fresh tea. Dharamshala is situated at an elevation of 1380 msl which is ideal for tea cultivation. The green leaf tea and premium tea along with the many variants of black tea, Oolong tea, herbal tea and jasmine tea, are produced from some of the best tea gardens in Dharamshala.
Mann Tea Factory is located in Narghota village in Dharamshala around 3 Km from the Inter State Bus Stand Dharamshala. Mann Tea Comapany owns thousands of acres of land where tea gardens are spread. The tea gardens of Mann tea Company ranges from Chilgari to Narghota till Kunal Pathari Temple.
Mann Tea Factory is open to the visitors and tourists during working hours. People are welcome to see how the factory operates and prepare world class tea which is exported to number of countries. The people will also make you aware how the tea is grown and what is the difference between a good quality tea and a bad quality tea.
