Rohru, India Overview
Branching off the Hindustan Tibet Road from Theog and by the banks of the river Pabbar. The town has witnessed a rapid growth in the past few years and today, this is an important economic and administrative center. It is also a good location for fishing for trout on the Pabbar's waters, sightseeing and trekking in the area.
The Rohru area is covered with apple orchids and forests. Trout fishing is available on the river Pabbar. Good spots are Seema, Sandasu,Tikri and Dhamwari. Scenic Chirgaon (15 km) also has the trout hatchery. Jubbal (31kms) is famous for its palace which is an interesting mix of European and vernacular elements. The classical temples of Hatkoti(11 kms) are major area a major attraction. Picturesque spots of Kharapathar and Giri Ganga are accessible from Rohroo. The temple of Shikhru Devta within Rohroo, is held in high veneration by the local people. There are several other attractive places for excursions and picnics.
Rohru is a town and a municipal committee in Shimla district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is a town located at the banks of Pabbar River and it is about 115 kilometres away from Shimla city. Rohru is also famous for trout fishing. The hatchery is situated at Dhamwari, 25 km upstream of Rohru town.
