Bhiwani, India Overview
Named after a Hindu goddess, Bhiwani is a city of Haryana that is located near Thar Desert. Watered by tributary of River Ganga, it is a nice tourist place and a major spiritual center. Created in 1972, the city comprises of 442 villages and is stretched over an area of about 5000 square kilometers.
Also called Bhawani City, the city is located on a tributary of the Ganges River, northeast of the Great Indian Thar Desert. The surrounding region includes outlying hills of the Aravalli Range. Selected by the British in 1817 AD as a free-market site, it is now a progressive industrial town. The industries of the region include cotton milling, ginning, and pressing and light manufacturing.

Bhiwani is a city created on 22nd December 1972 in the state of Haryana, India. The city was named by a Rajput King Neem after his wife named Bhani. The Bhani word later changed to Bhiyani and subsequently to Bhiwani. It has around 442 villages with main towns being Charkhi, Loharu, Bewani Khera, Dadri and Tosham. The district headquarter is also situated in Bhiwani itself. It has been a prominent center of commerce since the time of the Mughals. It is known as city of temples and 'Small Kashi' of India as it has more than 300 temples in this city.
