Bharat Milap, about half way on the Parikrama Path in Chitrakoot, is located on the back side of the hill. Bharat Milap is the spot where Bharat is said to have met Rama during his exile period, to convince him to return to the throne of Ayodhya to be the king.
Bharat Milap temple is located in Chitrakoot on the back side of the hill,, marking the spot where Bharata is said to have met Rama to persuaded him to return to the throne of Ayodhya. Bharat Milap Temple is located about half way in the Parikrama close to the Param Kutir.
As per legend, Bharat along with his army as well as the royal family and nobility of Ayodhya camped here. Impressions of Lord Rama and Bharat feet are still present here.
The ‘Bharat Milap’ temple can be approached only by way of the ‘Parikrama’ and is reputed to house the footsteps of Ram, Bharat, Sita, Kaushalya, Laxman and Shatrughan inscribed in stone. The local lore is that the stones melted from the emotions evoked by the meeting of Ram and Bharat and the footsteps were marked on stone as a consequence. It must be said that the footsteps seen in stone here do not have all contours and the toes clearly marked, which gives more credence to the local lore than would otherwise be the case.
