Agra bear rescue facility is locates inside Sur Sarovar Bird Santuary, keetam, Agra. If you are driving from Delhi, the bear rescue facility is 16 km before Agra and 12 km before Sikandra Fort on the main Delhi-Agra road. Look for two engineering colleges on your left about 15 km after Mathura toll gate. Within one km after crossing the Anand Engineering College (on your left), you will see a yellow gate on your left, which is the entrance to Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary. Turn in here (there is Forest Department barrier) and drive down the road (2km) till you see the Bear Center on your right.
Located along the Keetham Lake, the Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary was granted official status in the year 1991 by the State government. Protecting over 300 species of exotic native and migratory birds that are found here include Siberian cranes, Sarus cranes, Brahminy ducks, Spoonbills, Bar-headed geese, Gadwalls and Shovellers. The entire lake area gets covered by profuse growth of macrophytic vegetation of water hyacinth (Eichornia sp.) and Potamogeton sp. during summers. The water quality of Keetham Lake supports wide range of avifauna during winter season. Also home to around 12 species of mammals dwelling alongside 18 species of reptiles, the best season to visit Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary is from September to March every year.
