Sthaneshwer was the glorious capital of Harsha Vardhana, and hence the structural design of the temple presents some regional influence. Its domical roof is in the shape of amla with a lofty pinnacle. This venerated shrine holds an ancient Shiva Linga, which holds the credentials of the first idol of Lord Shiva in the phallic form.
