Lord Krishna performed Raslila with Radha here. This place acted as their getaway from the din and bustle of everyday life. Dancing with gopis and answering the many and whims of his lover Radha was his favorite pastime. Many of the paintings and miniature portraits show them at their playful best in this garden. It is one of the most repetitive themes in almost all school of paintings in the times of yore. This beautiful garden also has a small temple dedicated to both Krishna and Radha which is known as Rang Mahal. This erstwhile garden is surrounded by many temples like Srila Jiva Gosvami's Radha Damodar Temple, Srila Syamananda Gosvami's Radha Syamasundara Temple, and Srila Krishna Dasa Kaviraj Gosvami's Radha-Vrindavan-Candra Temple.

In Nidhuban Krishna is said to have rested with Radha after a tiring day of merrymaking. There is a shrine in the premises which houses a bed. This is decorated every morning by the temple priest in reverence to the lover. An interesting story that goes around in Vrindavan is that no one is allowed in the premises of this garden after dark as Krishna is said to frequent this spot along with Radha.
