Jaswantpura is located in the region’s valley and experiences a comparatively low temperature during summer. Previously, there was a village in this area called Lohiyana, that used to be the capital of the Lohiyana Dynasty. The village was fortified with walls and infantry. However, Jaswant Singh, the king of Jodhpur attacked Lohiyana in 1833 AD and destroyed the fort.
Later, the town was named Jaswantpura, after king Jaswant. The king also built a rest house in the mountains near Jaswantpura, as his winter getaway. Presently, the building is a private property, belonging to the descendants of the royal family of Jodhpur. The area is also rich with wildlife including tigers, bears, boars, monkeys etc.
