Lauria Nandan Garh, Valmiki, Bihar India

About 1 kilometer east of Nandan Garh, located within the Valmiki National Park, is an 80 feet high huge mound composed of bricks. This pillar is 2300 year old & in excellent condition, which according to sources is an Ashoka Stupa in which ashes of Buddha’s funeral pyre are enshrined. There is a Lion on the top which is a single block of polished sandstone almost 35 feet in height with a diameter of 35.5 inches at the base and 26.2 inches at the top. This ancient monument with a massive & exquisite finish is of archeological importance and most visited by the religious and adventurous souls alike.
