Triveni Sangam, Valmiki, Bihar India

A magnificent occurrence, this name is derived from the fact that the three Rivers of Gandak, Sonha and Pachanad merge here as one soon after they emerge from the hills. It is also a holy place for the Hindus who believe this as the site where the fight between the Lords of the Forests (Elephant) and the Waters (Crocodiles) commenced. The areas around this confluence are picturesque, scenic & charming, visited alike by the local residents and the tourists touring the Valmiki National Park. Triveni Temple devoted to this confluence is located 3 kilometers inside Nepal across the Gandak Barrage.
