Lalmati-Duramari Ganesh Temple, Bongaigaon, Assam India

Lalmati-Duramari Ganesh Temple is one of the best historical attraction in this district. This temple is situated near Abhayapuri town under North Salmara sub-division. It is refered as the oldest temples of Assam. The three main views shows the reason for destructions of the Lalmati-Duramari Ganesh Temple like the first view shows that earthquakes destroyed the temple and its images, while the second view shows the Kalapahar who revolted against worshipers and priests, also destroyed the temple along with other temples and images in the North-East and the last view states that Burmese invaders who camped at Malegarh hills destroyed the temple along with the idols. But it is clear that earthquake has been the basic reason of the destruction of the temple.
Bongaigaon District of Assam also has perfect educational system with many schools and colleges here. Generally the people here are mainly involved in agricultural and other small scale cottage industries.
