Kartarpur Gurdwara, Jalandhar, Punjab India

Karatpur Gurdwara, built by the Fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjun Dev in 1656 A.D., is located 16 km away from Jalandhar. A fair is held every year on Arjun Dev's birth anniversary, which is attended by thousands of devotees. There is also a Smarak here for Swami Virjanad, the teacher of Swami Dayanand Saraswathi. Kartarpur gurdwara is also known as Gurdwara Thum Sahib, because of the sandalwood post (Tham) established by the Guru here. He said the Tham is the foundation of the faith of Sikkhism. The gurdwara is also famous for furniture industry.
