Hot Water Spring, Taptapani, Orissa India

There are a number of Hot Springs in Orissa that are significant to the state in many ways. Other than attracting tourists, the Hot Springs are also very important from religious standpoint as well. The Sulphur Springs or Hot Springs of Orissa include Atri, Tarabalo, Deulajhari and Taptapani. The Atri Hot Spring is located in the district of Khurda, almost 42 km from Bhubaneshwar, in the center of paddy fields. Atri maintains a steady temperature of 55 degrees centigrade. Tarabalo is present in the Nayagarh district of Orissa and is spread across an area of 8 acres. Tarabalo Hot Spring is located 75 km from Bhubaneshwar. The Hot Spring of Deulajhari is situated near Angul district and as it generates from below a Shivalinga, it has great religious significance. The hot water is stored in 36 artificial ponds. The Taptapani spring is located 67 km away from Gopalpur, in a densely forested area. A man-made pond is present near the Hot Spring for the convenience of the devotees.
