Distance: Bokaner 32 KM
Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary is located at a distance of 32 Km from Bikaner. In former times it was a hunting ground for the Maharajah of Bikaner. There is a lake in this sanctuary and a variety of animals come here to quench their thirst in summer. This is one of the proposed forests for Cheetah reintroduction in India. The lush foliage of the woods here have a number of neelgais(blue bull), waterfowls, chinkara (black buck), particularly flocks of imperial sandgrouse and wild boar living here.It is considered as the prettiest place in the region, with a lake, a palace, wooded hills and gardens. The lake at Gajner attracts water birds in thousands, the imperial sand grouse from Siberia being the most important of these.
The sun shines brightly in Gajner. The colorful turbans of its inhabitants sparkle like speckles of colored dust. The little town of Gajner is like an oasis in the royal land, offering a fresh retreat from the hot and humid land of Rajasthan.
