Pilgrimage Place in Ghaziabad
Shri Dudheshwar Nath Mahadev Math Mandir is a very popular local temple. It owes its name to a strange legend. It is said that long ago a cow released her own milk into a hole dug by her. Pious Hindus built a temple on that site. The Dudheshwar Nath temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed to be a 5000 year old structure. The temple is one of the major Ghaziabad tourist hotspots.
Shri Dudheshwar Shivlinga is situated in the holy premises of Shri Dudheshwar Nath Mahadev Math Mandir (Temple). This historical Math Mandir is situated approximately 2 kms. from holy river Hindon. In Puranas there is clear description of a Self-Effulgent Shiva Linga near river Hindon. Harnandi, Hamad, Hirnada or Hindon is the daughter of Lord Brahma, the Creator. There is one and only one Self Effulgent Shivalinga near this holy river and that is Shri Dudheshwar Mahadev, as told. in Puranas. There is not any other Self-Effulgent ShivLinga near or far from the banks of Hindon. This proof establishes the historical and devotional value of the holy linga and the temple.
There is a village Bisrakh near Ghaziabad. Once upon a time there was a dense forest. Ravan's father a great sage Vishweshwarva was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. In Ravan's ancestral village Bisrakh nobody celebrates Dussehera or Ramleela. This village's name was Vishweshwarva Raksh to pay regard to Ravan's great father, after a long-long time now it is called Bisrakh.
In TRETA (the second of the four yugas according the Hindu mythology - The Silver age) before incarnation of Lord Rama, Kuber's father Pulastya resided in Bisrakh. Pulastya wished that Kuber should come time to time as early as possible to visit him, but Kuber had no time to do so.
Kuber was the best friend of Lord Shiva. Pulastya thought to use this friendship in favour of him. He thought, if Shiva could live with him then there was no reason that his friend would come to meet him (Shiva). To materlise his thought Pulastya started penance to please Lord Shiva, near the forest of Hindon.
Pleased with the penance of Pulastya kind hearted Lord Shiva appeared with Mata Parvati in front of him (Pulastya) and said- 'I am very happy with you. I live in Kashi and Kailash. You want me to stay here for ever. You should build second Kailash here in which I will stay for ever.
Lord Shiva gave opportunity to build second Kailash to Pulastya. According to religous belief Kailash is a great form of architecture. Before leaving the place Lord Shiva left a Jyotirlinga as a gift to Pulastya and to other human beings. Due to his great worship and penance Pulastya became Vishweshwarva, means like Lord Shiva. Where Pulastya performed panance, where Lord Shiva appeared with Mata Parvati, where Shiva left Jyotirlinga as an identification mark, where Lord Shiva left great gift for all human beings - that place is Shri Dudheshwar Nath Mahadev Matth Mandir premises. Dudheshwar Jyotirlinga fulfills all the wishes of his devotees.
