Also known as the Vaidyanath Dham, Deoghar is an important Hindu pilgrimage center. The town is surrounded by the Data Jungle and the wooded hills of Nandan Pahar on the northern side; and the Trikutaparvata, a range of low lying hills lend it a worth seeing landscape in the eastern side. Situated on the banks of the River Betwa, the town houses The Vaidyanath Shiv Temple - one of the Siddha Peeth, which is the major attraction. This Siddha Peeth has been bequeathed with 'Kamna Lingam', one of the twelve Jyothilingams of India.
