Heritage Place in Fatehgarh-Sahib

This museum was inaugurated in the year 1990, April 10th and was a part of the Cultural Affairs, Archeology and Museums of the Punjab Government. The cultural heritage of Punjab was known after the excavation of the archeological treasures and this museum was set up only with an aim to display all these treasure and prestigious culture of the state. More than 1500 antiques were taken out during the excavation at Sanghol where pottery, terrocottas, seals, coins, sealings, stones and other art objects were found.
The most important antiques are displayed on the first floor of the museum and are arranged chronologically that highlight the development of the heritage.
Also the seals, coins and moulds are displayed next to where the potteries are kept in the museum. What also catch the fancy of many are the bangles, terracotta toys, beads and ivory objects. Upper gallery also showcases the head of the Buddha that is dated to the fourth century, AD. Also the motifs on the pillars, stones, railings and the bars of the stupa were discovered in Sanghol. The carvings display scenes of the mythology.
The sculptures depict the Kushana style that is the art of Mathura. These sculptures are told to be the best examples of this expression.
