The Samaspur bird sanctuary is located near Salon in Rae Bereli. Set up in the year 1987, it is spread across 780 hectares of land. The sanctuary is a haven of peace and provides a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Rai Bareli. With more than 250 species of birds, both resident and migrant, the sanctuary is a major birding destination in Uttar Pradesh. Some of the birds that have made the sanctuary their home include the vulture, kingfisher, spot bill, common teel, vision, and whistling teel.
The sanctuary also has a lake with several kinds of fish. Both locals and tourists flock here to enjoy seeing the birds, enjoy a picnic, or simply soak up the peace of the environs. The best time to see the birds is from November to March. This is the time that birds from the high altitudes and other migratory birds fly here for a visit.
Samaspur Sanctuary is situated near Salon in Rae Bareli District. Samaspur Bird Sanctuary lies at about 122 km from Lucknow on Lucknow-Varanasi highway. It was established in 1987 on about 780 hectare.Over 250 varieties of birds here include local birds such as comb duck, spot bill, spoon bill, kingfisher and vulture, and migratory birds such as greleg googe, pin tail, common teel, vision, showler and surkhab. The lake at Samaspur has more than twelve kinds of fish.
