The small hilly destination of Harsil became popular for the legend Pahari Wilson or Raja Wilson. Fredrick E Wilson escaped into the Garhwal region and went to the King of Tehri for a safe place. The King of Tehri was honest to the British so, he refused to shelter him. Then Wilson moved to the mountains and hides his self there for detection. But the fortune of Wilson brought him into Harsil a beautiful hamlet located on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. Wilson deserted the British army after 1857 of Sepoy Munity.
Weather of Harsil stays pleasant throughout the year. The best time to visit Harsil starts from April and remain plesants till June ends and September to November. The maximum temperature in Harsil ranges from 15 degree Celsius and the minimum is 10 degree Celsius. Summers will be the best place to visit. The months of winters begins from October and extend to January. The month of February brings pleasant climate. Maximum temperature in winters is 10 degree and goes down to 0 degree Celsius. In winters the region also receives a specific amount of snowfalls. So, during winters is not a good time to make a trip to Harsil.
The place is completely free from hustle and bustle of noisy cities. It is a very cool and calm destination for tourists. Those who want to spend some moment in solitude; Harshi is the perfect site for them. People can also enjoy trekking here as there are many trekking routes in the area of Harsil. The lush green scenery, deodar forests and gusting water of Bhagirathi attracts thousands of tourists around the year.
