Kota Government Museum is situated in the Brijvilas Palace near the Kishore Sagar in the state of Rajasthan. Inside the museum photography is prohibited but there is a provision of receiving permission from the Director of Archaeology and Museums, Jaipur. The museum displays the rich cultural heritage of the state.
Kota is the commercial capital of the state of Rajasthan. The city is gifted with abundant natural beauty including waterfalls, sand dunes, palaces and forts. Kota Government Museum in Kota has an exceptional collection reminding us of the bygone era. The wonderful collection comprises of sculptures rare coins and manuscripts, selection of Hadoti sculpture. Among all the exhibits in the museum the sculpture brought from Baroli is the most remarkable item on display. The beautiful statue is exquisitely carved and is important because of its historical importance.
The Brij Vilas Museum mostly concentrates on culture of the region. Objects of historical and scientific importance are exhibited here. The main objective of the museum is to provide as much information of the great resources of Rajasthan which has been collected and preserved all these years. The museum is situated in the northern part of Kishor Sagar Lake and is the best maintained museum in Rajasthan. It has an outstanding collection of different kinds of coins, statues and weapons. Earlier this museum was located in Hawa Mahal, Jaipur now it has been shifted to Brij Vilas Palace. It is now sponsored by the Rajasthan Government.
