Gorumara National Park is famous to visitors for its natural population of one-horned Rhinoceros, situated on the bank of rivers Murti and Raidak. Indian elephants, gaur (Indian Bison), a huge varities of dear, lepord, python, monkey, etc are also frequently available in Gorumara National Park. A trolley safari through the abandoned rail path is very exciting activities in this forests, with a charge of Rs. 100/- per head. Gorumara National Park is just 14 kilometers away from Chalsa.
Gorumara National Park is one of the important sightseeing options in Chalsa, which is situated in the Jalpaiguri District of West Bengal. This park is famous for the Great Indian one-horned Rhinoceros and consists of the moist deciduous forests including sal trees. Other visible trees in the park are siris, khair, teak and simul that provide shelter to a variety of animals such as sambar, python, leopards, sloth bear, elephants and Indian bison. The national park is also home to several birds like Indian pied hornbill, woodpeckers, sunbird, fly catcher, minivet, drongo, pheasants, cuckoos, cormorants, pigeons, mynas, and Brahmany duck. Travellers can use binoculars for watching birds and animals roaming inside this park. For night vision, there are several watchtowers inside the park, including Jatraprasad Watch Tower, Chandrachur Watch Tower, Chukchuki Bird-watching Point and Rhino Observation Point. The ideal time to visit this national park is between mid-June and mid-September.
