Diwan-i-Khas is also referred to as the Audience Hall which was built by one of the most notable Arki rulers namely Ram Shara Singh, a true patron of art.
This artistic room is decorated with wall friezes that include different styles and types of miniature paintings that include Arki, European, Kangra, Kullu and Rajasthani .The murals deal with a range of subjects that differ drastically from one another.For instance, it covers contemporary cities of Europe on one hand and Indian mythology on the other. The style of Guler is strongly evident in various portraits, female figurines and flowery drawings. Most interestingly, the murals depict a range of subjects that include birds and animals, war scenes, erotic love scenes, raginis and several humorous fantasies. Some Chinese pictures can even be spotted in these frescos. The Murals neatly depict brilliant Puranas stories such as battlefields and Punjabi folk art.
Built by Ram Shara Singh, one of the great patrons of arts among the Arki rulers, Diwan-i-Khas is an amazing room of art, with ornamented wall friezes, encompassing the Kangra, Arki, Rajasthani Kullu and European styles of miniature paintings. These Murals uses wonderful display of colours and still stand the testimony to the glorious artistic tradition of Arki.
