Chetak Tomb is the tomb of the loyal horse named Chetak of Maharana Pratap, who had sacrificed his life in the "Battle of Haldighati" in order to save the life of his master. Chetak was seriously wounded in the battle of Haldighati which was fought in 1576 A.D. between Maharana Pratap of Mewar and the forces of the Mughal Emperor Akbar being led by Raja Man Singh of Amber. He had lost his leg as well, but still he dutifully carried his master, Maharana Pratap, safely to this place and at last after crossing a stream, fell dead. So this monument was constructed in the memory of this royal steed. A Temple of Lord Shiva is situated adjacent to this tomb. It appears that the Great Animal 'Chetak' lies here in eternal sleep at the feet of his Lord 'Pashupatinath'.
