The former ruler of mandor relinquished his state and rule of Mandor in favour of Bhate Rao . Rao Jodha was acutely aware of the miraculous and mystic powers of Mother Chamunda and he wanted to enshrine her idol at the Chief shrine of Mehran Garh.With a view to this the idol was shifted from Mandor to Mehran Garh and it was ceremoniously installed there .

Mother Godess Chamunda in the sanctum Sanctorum, the idol of Chamunda in black stone is installed. Other idols there are of Kalika and Bech Rai Ji. Though the Rathore Rajputs have goddess Nagnechyaji as their Clan goddess but Chamunda as well rules every Rathor’s heart, Rao Takhta Singh renovated this temple in the Vikram Samvat 1914.

People of all castes and creeds , young and old men and women visit this temple to have a darshan of Chamunda Mata . People strongly believe that Chamunda is their guarding deity. They also make a wish and tie a piece of cloth or some some sutra to the trident. When the wish is fulfilled they revisit the shrine to express their obligation .

Chamunda Mata is worshipped by most of Jodhpur's citizens also. During Dussehra celebrations, Mehrangarh Fort is thronged by devotees to get a glimpse of Chamunda Devi. If you are a devotee of Chamunda Devi, do visit this temple, when in Jodhpur.
