Bori Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the Hoshangabad District of Madhya Pradesh. The sanctuary has one of the oldest forest reserves of India, the Bori Reserve Forest. It was established alongside the Tawa River, in 1865. The wildlife sanctuary lies at the foothills of the Satpura Range and covers an area of over 518 sq. km. It merges with the Satpura National Park and the Pachmarhi Sanctuary to form the Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve. The sanctuary is covered with bamboo and mixed deciduous forests. Trees like dhaora, tendu and teak can be seen in the sanctuary. Some of the animals like leopards, muntjac deer, tigers, gaur, rhesus macaques, sambar and chital deer, can be spotted here. The best time to visit the sanctuary, is between the months of November and April, when the weather conditions are suitable for a jungle safari.
