Bengenaati Satra is one of the top satras located at Majuli Island in Jorhat District of Assam. It was established by Muraridev, the nephew of Sankardeva (the father of Assamese culture).
The Benganaati Satra is also home to the advanced centre of performing arts that was established by Muraridev, the grandson of Srimanta Sankardev’s step mother. The Benganaati Satra, similar to the other Satras in the island not only upholds the culture and values taught by Srimanta Sankardeva but also serves as a museum preserving old artefacts.
An advance centre of performing art, Bengenaati Satra is a storehouse of antiques of cultural importance. It preserves the royal robes (made of gold) belonging to the Ahom king Swargadeo Gadadhar Singha and a golden umbrella.
