Sasivekalu Ganesha is located on the foothills of the Hemakuta hills and is not a temple one can miss. Hindu scriptures and mythology have it that Lord Ganesh had a love for eating and had a habit of eating a lot. Once, it so happened, that he loaded his stomach with his favorite cuisine so much, that it nearly exploded. It is said that he grabbed a snake and tied it firmly around his stomach like a belt to prevent it from exploding.
The open front entrance of the shrine is placed facing the beautiful scenery and one can see the beautiful ambiance around such as the Bazaar, Matanga hills and so on. Pilgrims and art enthusiasts all over India plan trips to Hampi to visit this temple that holds a historic significance of its own.
