Sri Devaki Krishna Temple, Ponda, Goa India

17 km from the capital town Panaji, located in Marcel in Ponda taluka, one of the most sacred Hindu temples in Goa, Sri Devaki Krishna temple is the largest among the other temples and is known as the only temple in India with the presiding deity of Devaki Krishna -a confluence of Lord Krishna and his mother Devaki.The idol of Devaki is in a standing posture with child Krishna between her legs. Other deities enshrined in the temple are Bhumika Devi, Laxmi Ravalnath, Mallinath, Katyayani, Chodaneshwar and Dhada Shankar. The original temple of Shri Devki Krishna Bhumika Mallinath was destroyed by the Portuguese; present temple is known to have been re built in January 1934.
