This temple is said to have been built by Ahom King, Sib Singha (1718-1744) and as legend foes, part of body of sati or Parvati fell here.
According to legends when lord Shiva was wandering with the body of his wife Sati a part of Sati’s body fell in the very place. The temple is dedicated to Parvati which is the other form of goddess Durga.
