Built by Ibrahim Adil Shah (the Sultan of Bijapur) in 1560, the Safa masjid of Goa is a prominent Islamic shrine in Ponda with an elegant structure based on typical Islamic architecture. Situated 2 km west of the centre of Ponda town, the Safa masjid has a massive water tank, featuring small chambers decorated with 'meharab' designs.
