Ramkunda Temple in Rajasthan was the home of Ramsnehi, the guru of Maharaja Amar Singh. Ramkunda is 11km from Jaisalmer. Amar Singh’s wife, Mansukhi Devi, built the Ramkunda Temple here.
The temple monument itself has some inscriptions written on the walls and outside on the Govardhan Pillars which were added to the complex in the early 18th century. The principal deity, as the name of the temple suggests, is Ram, but there are also images of Ganesh, Mahishasur the demon bull and Bhairu. New statues of Rama and his brother Lakshmana were installed in 1988. In the temple are available one gudari (cloth), one mala (necklace) and a topa (cap) for worshippers. Nearby lie some beautiful cenotaphs with intricate carvings.
