Poovar, India Overview
Poovar is a small coastal village in the Trivandrum district of Kerala state, South India. This village is almost at the southern tip of Trivandrum and there is only one last village Pozhiyoor which mark the end of kerala. This village has a beautiful beach which attracts tourists. There are also some good tourist resorts.
It has a quiet peaceful beach that divides the River Neyyar and the Arabic sea. Quite a phenomenon takes place at this peaceful bay where the river, sea, lake and beach meet the land. It is one of the natural wonders of kerala. Though poovar is a sleepy town where time has lost its wheels, the tourists are welcomed in style with floating cottages and golden beaches. The general population here is fishing folk and you can watch their activities at a nearby fishing village.

Raja Marthanda Varma ( 1706 - 1761 ) was born at a time when the royal power of his family was declining. In fact, the Raja was once outsted from his throne and in exile. But, a strong ruler, Marthanda Varama Maharaja not only regained his lost land but also enlarged his kingdom besides reasserting the royal power during his 29-year rule from 1729 to 1758. And, the success story of the Maharaja had close links with the small and beautiful land of Poovar, situated on the south of the Neyyar River
