Pakshipathalam,1740m above sea level in the Brahmagiri Thirunelly Temple with Karimala in the Backgroundhills at Thirunelli, is a challenging tourist spot for any adventure seeking tourist. Thirunelli is famous for its Lord Vishnu temple. To reach Pakshipathalam sixteen kilometres (to-n-fro) has to be covered through wild forest. The deep rock caves, formed among the thick blocks of rocks at the northern top end of the Brahmagiri, are the abode of various birds and wild beasts.
Pakshipathalam is generally a Bird Sanctuary located in Wayanad District of Kerala at about 7 Km from Thirunelli and 32 Km from Mananthavady . Thirunelli Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu also called as Kassi of South is also located in the nearby Hills. Pakshipathalam has a cave that is said to have been used by rishis in ancient times. Kuruvadweep island a 950 acre stretch of evergreen forests located near to Pakshipathalam is close to the banks of Kabani River.This evergreen forest is home to rare species of orchids, birds, and herbs.
Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary is an ideal location for bird watching as this is a hub of rare species of birds. You can use the watch tower at this destination for watching birds.
